Nellie Miller, the 2017 World Champion, technically only ran at one major winter building rodeo—Rodeo Houston, but her second straight championship there cata-pulted her the No. 1 spot in the standings and gave her the opportunity to head home to rest up for the Spring Run of rodeos in her home state of California. Lisa Lockhart’s streak of NFR qualifi-cations looks to stay alive, thanks to the unexpected efforts of her backup horse Prime Diamond. The 8-year-old gelding came into his own in late March, winning the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo (RNCFR)—which counts to the WPRA World Standings this year—and placing well at Rodeo Austin. She’s now home until the summer run.
