Showing in Amateur Ranch Horse Pleasure on a beautiful February Day
Ranch Horse Pleasure looks super simple to the casual observer. Well, it is. Actually, it is every bit as simple as running around 3 barrels set up out there in the arena. Go around that barrel first. Then go around that barrel, but in the opposite direction. Then go around that barrel in the same direction you went around the last one.
In Ranch Horse Pleasure you follow signs instead of tracks around barrels. The signs tell you what gait to use to get to the next sign. Pretty dang simple, right? Except, not unlike barrel racing, there is an incredible amount of timing, feel and fluency involved in order to win this "super simple" class!
