Guys Dashing Jet aka Stella owned by Cathy Geary wins the Diamonds and Dirt 2017 Futurity Average.

It may seem odd to you to know that this was my first BIG Futurity win!!! I've won go arounds and placed second in the average several times but never claimed the big "W" at a major Futurity. After the final horse ran last night and they announced that I had actually won. I will admit I shed a tear or two standing at "Stella's" stall staring at her in disbelief and appreciating what she had just did for me!
Stella is by #FrenchmansGuy and owned by Cathy Geary from Ohio. Cathy and I have known each other for years as I grew up in Ohio. Although Stella is the first horse I have ever ridden for her. Cathy trained her dam Perks Dashing Jet which now resides in Brazil. Renee Troy Crumrine piloted her to $33k+ in futurity earnings. Cathy bred, raised, and trained Stella. When cathy called and asked me to take her I accepted. She said "I think all you need to do is add speed." As we trainers know that can be the "do or die" part. But after stepping up the speed and a few small tweaks she was ready! Her first Futurity was the Bfa as a 4 coming 5 year old Futurity colt running against those that had been running all year. She placed 5th in the first round! She went on to place in the slot race in AZ and placing high in the average as well. She was reserve champ at the ft worth AQHA stock show. Placed in a go and average at the patriot. And has now come to the diamonds and dirt placing 2nd in the 2nd round and winning the average to be the Futurity champion earning over $31,000.00!! Bringing her season earnings to almost $60,000 so far...
