Laynee is a 7 year old mare we raised. She was broke as a 4 year old and I started riding her in August of her 4 year old year.
She's smart and athletic and picks things up quickly. I probably made 10-12 competitive runs on hr as a 5 year old, Pendleton 4D being one of them.
Last year with Covid our runs were also limited, <10. 18.2 on a Standard, with very few runs on standard patterns.
She's an alpha mare and thinks shes most important, not liking you to give attention to other horses.
She has good feet, loads and backs out of the trailer. Get excited to run but I wouldn't call her hot per se. Runs 1-2D locally, 3-4D at big races.
She rides out down the road or trails well. Shes figuring the breakaway roping out for the short amount of time we've worked on it. Good in the box, quick to track up, working on her stop.
She loves poles and will be very good once she gets her timing down. She's made only a few competitive runs this winter/spring and has progressed every run running several 22.s I don't particularly want to sell her. But I have several young horses and I get less time in on them because I want to take her.
Things I don't like about her: I watch who I tie her next to at the trailer, she has kicked a couple pretty good for no reason (alpha mare). She is Dinner Flight bred and they sometimes have a flighty side. She does. Not dangerous, just annoying.
One of the brokest horses I ride and she will flinch and spook at little things like a plastic bag on the ground or a large rock, while my colts don't even bat an eye.
She would make a really nice step up horse for the right, lighter-handed youth.
